Easy Coconut Oil Toothpaste Recipe
This creamy toothpaste keeps your teeth and gums healthy while fighting harmful bacteria.
Servings: 4 Cups
- 2 Cups Bentonite clay
- 1 Cup Baking soda
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
- 2 Tbl MCT oil (or to desired consistency)
- 2 Tbl Sea salt finely ground
- 1/2 C Powdered stevia (or to taste)
- 50 drops Peppermint essential oil
- 50 drops Vanilla essential oil
- 20 drops Clove essential oil
In a bowl, mix together all dry ingredients.
Add coconut oil and MCT oil a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Add essential oils for flavor.
Fill smaller glass jars to keep in medicine cabinets.
Store extras in quart size glass jar inside refrigerator
Essential oils work in homemade toothpaste for both flavors as well as oral health. Because they're even more effective and powerful when combined, I like to add lots of different ones like rosemary, thyme, tea tree, and myrrh for a synergistic effect. Since these essential oils have such a strong flavor, it's best to use them in smaller quantities and focus the majority of your essential oils on ones that are more palatable.
Also, 1/2 cup of stevia may be too sweet for you, feel free to add a little as you go and see how much works best for you. I find it's not too sweet since the baking soda is a little salty and the bentonite has no taste.
